Gate Lodge for Charles Deering |
|
MacKenzie, Clinton, Architect. New York architect Clinton MacKenzie designed this gate house for Charles Deering's winter estate at Buena Vista (northeast Miami, Florida). It was never built. Instead, Deering sold his Buena Vista property and moved his winter home south to Cutler, where he built a much less grand house. In the meanwhile, his brother, James Deering, built his palacial winter home, Vizcaya, in Coconut Grove (Miami, Fla.). A few years later, Clinton MacKenzie designed Plymouth Congregational Church (Coconut Grove, Miami, Fla.). 1 of 8 items. Collection also includes: Gift of the Miami-Dade Historic Preservation Division, 1985. |
