Built in 1928, Miami International Airport "was literally a crossroads for the world," says New York-born Ms. Roxborough, who arrived there in 1946 at the age of 19. She then flew on to Ecuador, a three-hour trip today which took three days due to mechanical problems. Ms. Roxborough met her husband in South America, but "50 years after my adventure began, we have returned to live in Coral Gables." She makes the M.I.A. logo the focus for her block, with a map of the world encircling it, representing how the airport has been crucial to Miami's development.
