by LaVerne Johnson Blind hem, appliqué George Merrick dreamed up Coral Gables and developed it. The house, officially called Coral Gables House, is his boyhood home and is an historical landmark listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is also one of Miami-Dade County's oldest buildings.
